We cannot wait to solve this crisis.
The climate crisis directly affects children and youth around South Sudan and is the greatest threat to their survival, livelihood, learning, and protection. Without addressing the crisis directly, today’s children and youth will bear the greatest burden, especially those living in the most vulnerable regions in South Sudan.
We are currently heading towards a global temperature rise of 3 degrees by the end of the century. To meet the 1.5º C scenario of the Paris Agreement, the world needs to reduce emissions by nearly 8 percent per year from 2020 to 2030. We have less than 10 years to act!
Children have contributed the least to the climate crisis but are paying the highest price. They face droughts, flooding, and a food crisis, the scale of which the world has never seen before. But, it doesn’t have to be this way.
Volunteer Alliance for Relief & Development uniquely empowers children’s and youth’s voices and encourages leadership in the climate movement. We aim to support children and youth – especially the most marginalized who are disproportionately affected by climate change – to be part of the solution and influence decisions by world and local leaders.
We’re calling for urgent action on the climate and inequality crisis to create a safe, healthy, and happy future for children everywhere.
